Beesblaas Gin (1 x 750ml)

  • R 21900

Gin has a strong citrus scent and a pine-like taste, accompanied by a kick of mild bitterness. The pine-like taste comes from juniper berry, which is the signature ingredient of Gin. The sour taste is due to the usage of many herbs and lime peels throughout the process.
The only consistent flavour threading through all gins, regardless of brand or type, is juniper, a subtle piney scent. However, beyond that, there are hundreds of different botanicals that can be combined in different ways to produce a completely unique flavour for each gin.

Beesblaas Gin is a South African gin that is handcrafted in small batches. It is distilled with 10 different botanicals, including honeybush, rooibos, buchu, and honey, which are all sourced from the Western Cape region.

Appearance: Beesblaas Gin is crystal clear, with a slight viscosity when swirled in the glass.

Aroma: The aroma is floral and herbaceous, with notes of honey and juniper.

Flavor: On the palate, the gin is complex, with flavors of juniper, citrus, and spice. The honey and rooibos provide a subtle sweetness that balances out the herbal notes.

Mouthfeel: The mouthfeel is smooth and silky, with a slight warmth from the alcohol.

Finish: The finish is long and dry, with a pleasant bitterness that lingers on the tongue.

Distillation techniques: Beesblaas Gin is made using a traditional copper pot still, and the botanicals are macerated in the spirit for 24 hours before distillation. The honey and honeybush are added during the final distillation to ensure a delicate flavor profile.

Storied history: Beesblaas Gin was founded in 2016 by two friends, Marius Bezuidenhout and Francois Bezuidenhout, who share a passion for distilling and a love of the Western Cape region. The gin is named after the Afrikaans word for "bee's breath," which refers to the delicate and fleeting nature of the flavors and aromas of the botanicals used in the gin. The use of honey and other local botanicals also reflects the founders' commitment to supporting sustainable and ethical practices in their production methods.
