Green Spot Irish Whiskey 750ml
- R1139
The nosing of the whisky is so key to appreciation. We suggest you start by bringing the glass slowly towards your nose and then gently smell the whisky. With high strength whisky you have to be careful, as you may anesthetise your nose. This explains why there is such variety in the texture of malt whiskies, from delicate, silky and velvety, to luscious, creamy and full-bodied.

Green Spot is a fabulous single pot still whiskey and much loved by the critics. This Irish whiskey has come far from the days when it was only sold in Mitchell’s grocery shop in the heart of Dublin, though its flavour profile is still just as robust. The whiskey has matured in a combination of first and second fill bourbon casks as well as sherry casks. Green Spot was originally produced exclusively for the Mitchell family who commenced trading in 1805 on 10 Grafton St. in the heart of Dublin city as purveyors of fine wines and confectionery. Four generations later, the company is still in the wine and spirits business, under the stewardship of Jonathan Mitchell and his son Robert. The Mitchell family expanded into whiskey bonding in 1887, whereby they sent empty wine, sherry, and port casks via horse and cart to the local Jameson Distillery, which were then filled and returned to the Mitchell’s cellar warehouse. There, the whiskeys matured for many years under bond until they were ready to be bottled and sold. The nose reveals fresh aromatic oils and spices with orchard fruits and barley on a background of toasted wood, while on the palate, Green Spot has a full spicy body. A hint of cloves along with the fruity sweetness of green apples rounded off with toasted oak with lingering flavours of spices and barley. Green Spot Irish Whiskey is best consumed when served neat, on the rocks with ice or in a cocktail such as Green Spot CC club cocktail.
